Quality

Every heat tested. Every result traceable.

Grinding media is judged in the mill: by wear, by breakage and by the steel it leaves behind in the circuit. Our quality system exists to make those results predictable before a bag is loaded.

From bar to mill in seven controlled steps

01
Bar stock

Bar stock

Hot-rolled round bar from qualified mills. Every heat is analysed on the spectrometer before release.

02
Induction heating

Induction heating

Bars are heated to forging temperature in seconds with temperature logged per batch.

03
Forging and rolling

Forging and rolling

Hammer and die forging for large balls; skew rolling for high volumes. Dies checked for size and roundness.

04
Quenching

Quenching

Controlled quench sets the hardened case. Temperature and medium recorded for every batch.

05
Tempering

Tempering

A continuous furnace relieves stress and fixes the hardness profile from surface to core.

06
Testing

Testing

Hardness profile, Charpy impact, drop-ball and metallography on samples from each heat.

07
Packing and delivery

Packing and delivery

One-tonne bags or drums labelled by heat number, delivered to the mine on a monthly schedule.

How a heat is controlled

How a heat is controlled

  • Incoming bar

Spectrometer analysis of every bar heat against the alloy specification; hardenability checked before release to production.

  • Heating and forming

Induction and furnace temperatures logged per batch; forging and rolling dies inspected for size and roundness.

  • Quench and temper

Quench temperature, medium and tempering cycle recorded for every batch; hardness profile verified on sectioned samples.

  • Testing

Surface and core hardness, Charpy impact, drop-ball test and metallography on samples from each heat, with results on the certificate.

  • Dimensional control

Diameter, roundness and mass per ball checked against tolerance; oversize and undersize rejected.

  • Certificate

A test certificate with chemistry, hardness profile, impact and drop-ball results accompanies every delivery.

Standards framework

ISO 9001:2015Quality management system in place; certification audit scheduled 2027
GB/T 17445Forged steel grinding balls, referenced for sizes, hardness and testing
ASTM A532High-chrome cast iron grades for cast balls
Customer media specificationsTest regimes of major copper and gold concentrators applied on request
ISO 45001Occupational health and safety management aligned
ISO 14001Environmental management aligned

Certification status is stated as at September 2026. Certificates and test reports are provided to customers on request.

Health, safety and environment

Health, safety and environment

  • Zero-harm target

Every task is planned with a risk assessment; stop-work authority for every employee.

  • Hot-work safety

Furnace, induction and forging areas controlled by permit-to-work; guarded presses and rolling mills.

  • Mill-site support

Field staff hold inductions and medicals for major mine sites.

  • Environment

Furnace emissions controlled, quench media recycled, scale and scrap returned to steelmaking.
